WE ARE SO EXCITED THAT 180 CONCERNED WISCONSINITES PARTICIPATED IN THE
FAIR MAPS FOR WISCONSIN SUMMIT!
The Fair Maps for Wisconsin Summit, held in Marshfield, WI on November 9th, was a non-partisan statewide event with the goal of educating and empowering activists to inform voters about gerrymandering and get legislators and candidates for the legislature on the record for supporting fair maps legislation - an independent process to draw legislative district maps.
The focus for the summit was to create regional grassroots groups with the skills, relationships, resources and coordination needed to accomplish this goal. Concerned Wisconsinites from across the state came together to learn, share and organize. We are excited about the next steps defined and look forward to more activism to end gerrymandering in Wisconsin.
Gerrymandering is destructive to our democracy, and Wisconsin is now at the epicenter of some of the worst gerrymandering in the country. Gerrymandering threatens every aspect of our lives, from funding for education and roads to healthcare, the environment and all the things that affect our quality of life.
Most importantly, gerrymandering undermines fair legislative representation in our state and national governments.
